Indexing
At Lex Academic, we relish the exacting task of compiling the index of your scholarly monograph, edited volume, or trade book. Our editor will pore through your text, collating all the key words, names, and places, creating an informative—and user-friendly—inventory of terms. Being a subject expert in their own right, your specially-selected index editor will already be cognizant of salient terms that cannot be left out of your index. Your index editor can perform the task of indexing at pre-proof or proof stage, the latter of which will involve pagination and liaison with your publisher.
Indexes can be short and sweet or utterly exhaustive. We can provide all-inclusive indexes, as well as individual indexes of topics and names (as requested), and specialised inventories of technical or foreign terms (including Latin and Greek for Classicists). We can create dedicated indexes for personal names (index nominum), places (index locorum), and words (index verborum). To date, we have created indexes for publishers including Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Routledge, and Peter Lang.
Can we help with anything else?
Ensure your entire manuscript is submission-ready with our extraordinary proofreading, copy-editing, and substantive editing services. Our impeccable author services include correcting all typographical, spelling, and grammatical errors. Where desired, we can make stylistic and substantive changes to your work that promise a powerful first impression with academic journals and major publishers. We are conversant with the dominant referencing styles for the sciences, medicine, humanities, and law (including APA, Chicago, Harvard, ICMJE, MLA, and OSCOLA). Furthermore, we readily familiarise ourselves with the peculiarities required by different university faculties for the sake of Ph.D. and D.Phil submission.
Authors or publishers interested in our indexing service should get in touch with our Managing Editor detailing their editorial requirements.
