Renowned OUP Commissioning Editor, Peter Momtchiloff, joins Lex Academic in Consulting Role

We are pleased to announce that legendary OUP philosophy editor Peter Momtchiloff has joined the team at Lex Academic as Associate Publication Consultant.
With 34 years’ experience at Oxford University Press, Peter’s insights into crafting competitive academic and trade book proposals will be invaluable to our mission of helping researchers get published in the most prestigious outlets across the humanities and social sciences.
Peter read Literae Humaniores at Worcester College, University of Oxford, studying the literature and history of ancient Greece and Rome, and Western philosophy (ancient, modern, and contemporary). After university, he worked as a freelance copy editor, and then for 34 years at Oxford University Press, including 30 years as philosophy editor, and five years also as editor for social and cultural anthropology. He was responsible mainly for academic books but also for some textbooks and trade books. He has played guitar and bass in bands since the 1980s, releasing many records and performing in 16 countries. He is a member of the Council of the Royal Institute of Philosophy, and an Assistant Editor on the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy.
Louise Chapman, CEO, said:
I am truly thrilled that we have added another genius to the team at Lex Academic. With over 30 years’ experience as Oxford University Press’s Commissioning Editor, Peter’s wisdom and support shall prove entirely invaluable to our wonderful clients in philosophy, classics, and beyond.
Chief Operations Officer, Professor Constantine Sandis, added:
I am incredibly honoured to welcome the one and only Peter Momtchiloff to our growing team at Lex Academic. In his role as Associate Publication Consultant, Peter shall be advising on book proposals across the humanities and social sciences, deploying 34 years of experience at Oxford University Press, where he served as a pre-eminent (and much missed) Commissioning Editor. Peter’s unmatched wisdom will further enable our authors to achieve their publication goals, especially in helping them secure book contracts.
Welcome to the team, Peter!
