2024 Lex Academic SIFA/Argumenta Prize

Following the success of the 2023 Lex Academic Prize, won by Dr Federica Berdini for her article, ‘Coping: A Philosophical Exploration’, we are pleased to announce the 2024 Lex Academic Prize in the philosophy of action and ethics in the analytic tradition. This prize is jointly sponsored by Lex Academic, the Italian Society of Analytic Philosophy (SIFA), and the journal Argumenta.

The prize shall be awarded to the best paper on any topic within the two areas above. Papers may be up to 7,000 words, including footnotes and references.

For the current year, the deadline for submitting papers will be August 31, 2023. An ad hoc committee—formed by experts in the fields involved—will evaluate the papers. Decisions will be made by January 15, 2024.

The winning paper will be awarded a 500-euro prize and will be published in the first available issue of Argumenta. The author(s) shall also be presented with an official prize certificate at the subsequent SIFA conference. Runners-up will be free to re-submit their manuscript to Argumenta via the standard procedures and will undergo the standard peer-review process.

To apply for the prize, please send an anonymized version of your paper to info@argumenta.org (specifying “Lex Academic Prize 2024” in the subject of the email), with author name(s) and affiliation(s) in the message text. Please do not submit more than one paper per author(s) as the first author(s).

The committee will make every effort to ensure equality and diversity in the attribution of the prize.
